SAT

This was previously known as the Scholastic Test and is used for college admissions based on measurement of verbal, mathematical and writing skills. Its purpose is to assess the potential of applicants for advanced study at college. There is no fixed eligibility but students are usually in their final year of school when they take it. Sections are quantitative, critical reading and writing and there are different time periods and questions assigned to each section. It must be kept in mind that even a good SAT score alone does not guarantee admission to an institution as it is only one of the several factors taken into consideration in the admissions process. The test may be taken at several different times in a year.
